The Planning Commission has been in existence since 1994. Its purpose is to provide a forum for discussion of issues of importance to the township and to make recommendations to the township board on current and future issues. The commission members are unbound by the election process, political expediency, or narrow interests.

Current members are Myron Alms, Doug Lantis, Jim Maybach, Rick Peterson, Nancy Taylor, and Dave Tincher. Scott Halverson serves ex-officio as a representative of the board.
